Gut-Friendly Peach & Kefir Sorbet

A tangy-sweet sorbet made from frozen peaches, kefir, and lemon. Creamy, cool, and easier than it has any right to be.

I wasn’t trying to make a gut-friendly dessert. I just wanted something cold.

It was one of those long, hazy afternoons where the air felt too heavy to bake and the kids wanted “something frozen.” I reached into the freezer and grabbed a bag of peaches, thinking I’d make smoothies. But the kefir was already out for lunch, and one thing led to another… and this happened.

This peach & kefir sorbet is what I now reach for when the mood says ice cream but the fridge says, You’ve got peaches and 15 minutes. It’s creamy, tart, and lightly sweet. You don’t need an ice cream maker. You don’t even need a plan.

Most sorbets lean sweet and icy. This one’s got tang, creaminess, and that soft, barely-there texture you only get from blending frozen fruit with just the right amount of liquid.

The kefir does the heavy lifting—offering up that yogurt-like richness and a subtle fermented tang. It balances the natural sweetness of the peaches so you’re not left chasing it with a glass of water.

And bonus: kefir’s loaded with gut-friendly probiotics, so it doesn’t just taste good—it does something. (Which feels rare in dessert.)

I add a splash of lemon and just enough maple to brighten everything without tipping it into smoothie territory. It’s still a sorbet. Just…the kind your gut might thank you for.
